Cameroon

Cameroon seems to be the strongest among the 5 finalists from Africa. They have proven that they are a force to be reckoned with in the last few years. After the dissappointment of going out in the first round in France'98 they bounced back by winning the gold medal at the 2000 Sidney Olympics where they beat Spain in the final. Then they went on to win the 2000 African Cup of Nations by defeating Nigeria. They also gave a creditble performance when they drew 1-1 with France in a friendly where Patrick Mboma scored with a fantastic bicycle kick. They proved their mettle when they retained their African Nations title this year without conceding a single goal.Their chances in this year's world cup looks the best since Italia'90 where they qualified for the quaterfinals. And with players such as former African Footballer of the Year and joint top scorer of the 2002 African Cup Of Nations Patrick Mboma,Samuel Et'oo,Geremi Njitap they should be looking for at least a quaterfinals place. They are in Group E together with Germany,Rep Of Ireland and Saudi Arabia.
